Pumpkin for Dogs

Is pumpkin for dogs healthy? You bet!

And you can easily pamper your dog with pumpkin dog treats, by including pumpkin in your favorite dog treat recipes.

Pumpkin is packed with nutrition. It boasts huge amounts of vitamin A for resistance to infections, to improve night vision and keep the body’s membranes healthy.

And pumpkin also leads the pack in staving off cancer, with its vitamin A content.

Pumpkin also contains potassium, which is good for controlling blood pressure, and it has iron for healthy blood.

Pumpkin is used to control dog diarrhea and dog constipation, and it is good for dogs who need to lose some weight, as well.

Dog Weight Reduction with Pumpkin

But here is the most interesting piece of information. In addition to making tasty pumpkin dog treats and pumpkin dog cookies, you can help your overweight dog lose weight.

There are some nutritionists that swear by this program. Here is how it works. Simply reduce your dog’s pet food by 1/3 and replace that dog food with an equal amount of canned pumpkin.

Make sure that it is just pumpkin and not pumpkin pie mix which contains sugar and other ingredients.

Dogs love pumpkin, and canned pumpkin has a similar texture to canned dog food. But—here’s the best part—it provides tons of vitamins and roughage. Pumpkin helps your dog digest her food. And it has far fewer calories than dog food.

On this diet, your dog will feel full and she won’t be as likely to fuss about not getting more food!

You can’t go wrong with pumpkin. After all, supplementing your dog’s diet with pumpkin, is a great way to help your dog stay fit and healthy—and lose weight!
