Try these wheat free beef biscuits for your dog with wheat allergies. These homemade dog treats are easy to make and are made with healthy ingredients.

These hypoallergenic homemade dog treats are wheat free, corn free and they are made from all natural ingredients.

If your dog has trouble with food allergies, it is critical to his health and well-being that you buy only hypoallergenic dog treats or use only ingredients that your dog tolerates, in any homemade dog treat recipes that you make.

In addition, you may also consider giving your dog a digestive support product.

A gastrointestinal support supplement will help your pet digest his food easily, absorb all the nutrients in his food, and have normal bowel movements.

When you make these doggie treats, keep in mind that excluding wheat flour and substituting other flours will make your dough a bit more sticky. You may have to add some additional flour to make the dough easier to work.

Wheat Free Beef Biscuits for Dogs – Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups buckwheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups brown rice flour
  • 1/4 cup rice bran
  • 1 1/2 tsp. non-aluminum baking powder
  • 1 T. beef broth powder or bouillon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (for healthy coat and skin)
  • 1/2 cup beef, finely chopped (optional)

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  • Divide the ingredients into several balls of dough.
  • Sprinkle flour onto a cutting board.
  • Flour a rolling pin and roll each ball of dough into a sheet that is ¼” thick.
  • Cut out the heart shapes with a cookie cutter, dipping the cutter into a bowl of flour in between each heart cut.
  • Bake at 275 degrees F for 45 minutes. Check to make sure that they do not get too brown.
  • Turn off the oven and let the cookies finish drying overnight.

Dr. Alfred Ptechner’s book, Pet Allergies is a terrific resource if your dog has complicated allergies that are not responding to traditional treatment. The book helps you with diagnoses and how to work with a veterinarian, but it does not give you homemade dog food recipes. Please note: this book is no longer being printed, but you can get a used copy very inexpensively by following the link above to Amazon.

In addition, you might want to read, Dr. Pitcairn’s New Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats, another excellent resource for pet caregivers who want to use holistic methods.

The mini heart shaped cookie cutters that I chose for these wheat free dog biscuits are a great size for almost any dog, and they are very inexpensive.

These homemade dog treats are low in calories and even your small dog breeds like Bichon Frises, that are prone to dog food allergies, can eat them!
