Baking a dog cake for your dog is a true act of love, and a dog birthday cake or other themed cake can become the center of your celebration.
While cakes for dogs can look like they were made professionally, it’s very possible for you to make a great looking cake—that doesn’t take a lot of work!
All it takes is a little know-how, and a few kitchen tools…
These cupcakes were made using a Wilton Dessert Decorator Plus and they are on a Wilton cupcake stand.
So when is it appropriate to make a cake for your dog? Here are some possibilities:
Your Dog’s Birthday
The most obvious occasion is a dog birthday party with his (and your) friends. A birthday cake can be a bone shape or it could be made with a dog hydrant cake pan.
Or, if you prefer, you can make a cake that looks like a dog. Birthday cake decorating can be great fun!
Adoption Anniversary
If you rescued your dog, you may not know his actual birthday.
But the day you adopted him is an important day for both you and your dog. Celebrate the occasion with a special cake and a few friends to share the fun.
Graduation from Obedience School
Especially if you’ve had a long haul of it while learning basic obedience, it could be the perfect time to celebrate. Give your dog a special treat to show him that you’re proud of his accomplishment!
Halloween Treats
If you live in a neighborhood where the dogs make the rounds with the kids, have some special pupcakes ready for the Trick or Treaters. Make sure you package them carefully, so that they will survive the evening until the gang gets home.
So, no matter the occasion, consider making some special celebration treats for your dog. You know he’ll appreciate anything that you make for him!
Icing on the Cake
Last, but not least, don’t forget to finish your birthday cake with a layer of dog treat icing. You do have several choices. If you are adventurous, you can make a royal icing, which has a tendency to harden quickly, like lightening!
