Apple Dog Bone Treats Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dry yeast
  • 2 T. vegetable or olive oil
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup + 2T. water

Directions

  1. Put all the ingredients into your bread maker in the order suggested by the manufacturers.
  2. Set the bread maker to the dough cycle.
  3. When the dough is done, remove it and divide it into 3 equal parts.
  4. Roll the dough to ½” thickness for large bones and ¼” thickness for smaller bones.
  5. Use bone shaped cookie cutters to cut the cookies.
  6. Place the cookies/bones on a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 300 degrees F for about an hour—check to make sure that the bones don’t get too brown.
  8. Turn off the oven and leave the dog bone treats in the oven overnight to finish drying. They will be hard and crisp when they are done.

Have fun with these natural snacks for your dog. And, let me know how you make out with the recipe!
